Get Involved
There are a lot of ways for you to be involved at St. John’s. Getting involved is a great way to serve your community, meet new people, and grow spiritually.
-
Kids
Some of our kid-loving members fill in as Children’s Corner helpers; help plan some of our kid-centered activities, accompany kids on outings, keep our Children’s Corner in order. All volunteers working with children must receive background checks and SafeChurch certification.
-
Choir
Made up of about 25 members, our choir typically sings three Sundays a month, leading in congregational worship and performing various pieces. The choir is open to volunteers who can sightread music (classical to Gospel) and attend regular rehearsals on Thursday nights at 7:00 from September to May.

Sundays
There are lots of ways to be involved with Sundays at St. John’s. The Altar Guild procures, sets up, and cares for all the supplies that allow us to celebrate sacraments. Our Flower Guild buys flowers and arranges them for our Sunday services. We also have acolytes, ushers, and lay readers. People who feel called to these ministries receive special training and are assigned a rotating schedule.
-
Hospitality
This team helps rustle our coffee-hour volunteers and organize parish potlucks or our outdoor Ice Cream Social in summer; helps to make weddings or funerals beautiful or meaningful, and helps us celebrate special events in the life of the parish.
-
Prayers
For those who gravitate to prayer, our healing prayer team prays together for our folks, their families, their friends; it also reaches out to them; and lays hands and prays for folks at our healing prayer service.

Social Ministries
Practically everyone at St John’s supports Social Ministries in some way, and there are lots of ways to help, even for those with just a few hours to give. Some serve on our decision-making team; others contribute financially; others support public policy efforts; and others meet practical meals like serving meals, packing toiletries and emergency supplies.
