LET’S SUPPORT WESTERN FARM WORKERS

WFWA is waging a letter writing campaign to get the Oregon Public Utilities Commission to eliminate utility debt. WFWA has members whose utilities were shut off prior to the pandemic and who will never be able to catch up, and all members are falling further and further behind.

As you know, we have delivered food to members and have given the association a few thousand dollars. The inestimable Barbara Bakken is making masks for the WFWA members. Now I am asking that anyone who wants to support these people do so by printing, signing and mailing this letter. After you have done that, if you would let me know so that I can tell the Association how many we have sent. They are trying to hit 100 letters a week. Members of the Association are not only seasonal farm workers, but also people who clean hospitals and work in restaurants, do childcare and other essential jobs.

If you do not have a printer, I will GLADLY send you a letter to sign in the mail.

Please contact Deacon Annette.

As always, thank you so much for your commitment to WFWA!

THE ZOOMING BOOK GROUP is starting a new book – In Praise of the Useless Life, A Monk’s Memoir by Paul Quenon, O.C.S.O. Br. Paul brings the peace and routine of life in a monastery alive with grace and humor. He has been a Trappist at the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky for over fifty years. While growing up he studied and loved books by Thomas Merton, only to discover after some time that his novice master at the Abbey, Fr Louis was Thomas Merton. Book Group Zoom meetings Tuesdays 10:15 – 11:30 AM.

Come and see. EMAIL Miki Charlton for more information.

PRAYING FOR FRONTLINE HEALTHCARE WORKERS:

We’d like to begin praying more intentionally for healthcare workers you know and love who are currently working directly with the COVID sick, for we are surely in a battle with this disease, and to extend the metaphor: they are the ones in combat. Would you please share those names with Brent at
